Our Mission

Mobility Danes of New England, Inc. is a nonprofit charitable organization committed to breeding, training, and donating certified service dogs to individuals who experience difficulty with balance or mobility.
Our mission is to create partnerships that enhance each recipient’s quality of life as they gain greater independence. In building every Great Dane–recipient partnership, Mobility Danes of New England, Inc. is guided by the values of respect, integrity, inclusion, compassion, collaboration, equality, and courage. These principles shape our culture, our commitment to diversity, our pursuit of excellence for those in need, and our active engagement with the community.

Our Great Danes are cared for with the utmost compassion and respect. Mobility Danes of New England, Inc. uses positive reinforcement training methods to ensure our dogs demonstrate gentleness, reliability, and dedication while supporting their partners. This approach relies on rewards such as praise and treats to encourage desired behaviors through repetition, rather than fear or discomfort. When a dog demonstrates readiness and excellence, we carefully match them with a recipient based on physical characteristics and personality to support a safe, constructive partnership that reflects our values.

Our second mission is to serve as an ally to people living with mobility and balance challenges. We believe our dogs are one important tool in creating a more accessible world for individuals with disabilities, and we place accessibility at the core of our messaging and daily practices. We champion the importance of Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) guidelines and use our role in the community to promote appropriate interactions and considerations when encountering a service dog team.
Mobility Danes of New England, Inc. also offers accessible community service and volunteer opportunities for people of many ages and abilities (children age 16 and younger must be accompanied by a parent or guardian), working closely with volunteers who require accommodations to ensure meaningful participation.
We further our commitment to compassion and collaboration through interactive awareness events, including trainer-led dog visits to schools, senior centers, patient-driven events, and local community gatherings.

Changing Lives
Mobility Danes of New England, Inc. (MDNE) is a nonprofit organization that has proudly donated over 170 service dogs to individuals living with balance and mobility challenges. Our highly trained Great Dane service dogs are dedicated to helping their partners gain greater independence and improve overall quality of life.

After a dog is matched with an applicant, the partnership continues to grow through ongoing training and support from MDNE, ensuring the dog can adapt to the recipient’s specific needs over time. We are honored to enrich the lives of those we serve through these extraordinary Great Dane service dogs and the life-changing partnerships they make possible.
